Capital Fringe! - The A Capella Party
Posted on July 03, 2009 by Roc Lee
Also showing at the Warehouse Theater is The A Capella Party. I was able to get hooked up with this production through Craigslist (I love Craigslist) and I will be doing sound design work for the show. I saw the run-through on Wednesday and it was a amazing and its only going to get better for the performance.
When I was interviewing for the position the composers described it as a cross between A Capella chorus music, West Side Story and High School Musical. I would say that's a pretty accurate description. The most impressive thing about the show is that it is literally entirely a capella, complete with beat boxing. That's right. A pitch pipe gets passed around during the show for the cast to get their pitch. You can tell the cast is having fun and they are fun to watch.
I can't really say much more without giving stuff away, but here is the description from the Capital Fringe website:
{xtypo_quote}Young lovers, Tony & Julie, get caught up in the competitive world of college a cappella. Both audition for Timbuktu University's most prestigious (and rival) groups. Will the intense rivalry and hatred between the groups be enough to tear young love apart?
