History:

The group started in the Spring of 2002. The original membership was
composed of 33 individuals. The program formed under the leadership of
Christina Calkins and an Advisory Council which proceeded to form the
group as a non-profit in 2005. A facilitators book is currently
being developed that will describe all of the functions of this
organization and it’s committees that will be completed in Spring of
2010. For more information about our HOUR Exchange, visit their website at
www.hourexchange.org . They also offer support to other communities in
the development of local currency programs.

Benefits:

The implementation of the currency has helped to enhance connections within the community. People have been able to utilize skills and services not recognized by the common market place.

Current/Future Outlook:

The current membership of the currency is stable.

Reflections:

A strong foundation was built for the currency by developing a Board of Trustees that oversees the operations of the currency. The board members also facilitated the outrace to the community.
